I recommend that the Technion give students who graduate bonuses the same as those who receive 5 maths graduates.
A letter of recommendation for a Robophysics program to provide a bonus on admission to the Technion
In honor of Prof. Adam Schwartz, Senior Vice President of the Technion
The Robophysics program was discussed at our meeting on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. As we have explained, the program combines the learning, design, implementation, operation, and investigation of robotic devices, and through them dealing with scenarios that interdisciplinary combine knowledge from the fields of physics, mathematics, algorithmic and engineering.
The program constitutes 45% of the scope of the matriculation examination in physics and is one of a number of programs that exist today under the supervision of the teaching of physics. All existing programs, and robotics in general, are closely monitored by the Supervisor of Physics Teaching – supervision that includes guidance and instruction throughout the years of the program’s operation and the appointment of an external examiner.
The Robophysics program has a unique characteristic: academic validity achieved through a thesis study, conducted at the Faculty of Science and Technology Education at the Technion. The study indicated a marked improvement in students’ systemic thinking skills (Gero, A. & Danino, O. 2016).
The students’ evaluation of the graduates of the program will be carried out through “protection of the research project” according to an indicator as well as according to the project portfolio of the students. I will note that in all cases where such programs reach the final stage of the first cycle, I serve as one of the examiners and usually bring a team from the Physics Supervision with me, to examine the products and have a discussion about the nature of the program. This is how we will behave in this program this summer. In addition, for students who successfully pass above a grade of 85, I will award a “Robophysics Graduate” certificate with the signature and signature of the school administration. The certificate will have several components: Examination grade “Introduction to Electrical Engineering Project”, which gives students the academic point (grade given by the engineering examination team of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technion).
Following our conversation, I recommend that the Technion give students who graduate bonuses the same as those who receive 5 maths graduates.
